Primosten, Croatia

Primošten is a small town in North Dalmatia, Croatia, located close to Sibenik and just over an hour or so north (along the coastal road) from Split. This pretty little town was once on an island, connected to the mainland by a large wooden bridge which could be lifted in the case of enemy invasion. Later the bridge was replaced and the island was attached to the mainland in the 16th century making it no longer an island but a peninsula.
